Threads Tests “Text Attachments” for Long-Form Content

Share

Meta confirmed that Threads is testing a new feature allowing users to attach long blocks of text to posts. The update removes the need to create multiple posts or screenshots for sharing longer ideas.

The feature, discovered by iOS researcher Radu Oncescu, allows users to share styled text for news snippets, book excerpts, and more. Posts show a gray box with clickable content to read the full text, as seen in examples shared by Robert P. Nickson.

This long-form functionality could attract creators and writers seeking a wider audience outside blogs or Substack newsletters. Unlike X’s Premium-only Articles feature, Threads makes this available to everyone during testing.

Currently text-only, Meta may add images and video in the future. The feature joins Threads’ recent updates, including custom feeds, AI enhancements, DMs, and fediverse integrations, helping the platform surpass 400 million monthly active users, still behind X’s 600 million.
