Nvidia has pledged a £2bn investment into the UK’s AI start-up ecosystem, part of what CEO Jensen Huang described as the “age of AI.” The initiative will include companies such as Revolut and Wayve.
In a statement dated September 18, the company said the funding will focus on developing artificial intelligence technologies in the UK, with the goal of driving innovation and employment. The effort is being supported by Accel, Air Street Capital, Balderton Capital, Hoxton Ventures and Phoenix Court.
According to Nvidia, the funding will help grow “AI Growth Zones” and strengthen tech ecosystems in cities such as London, Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester.
This announcement comes shortly after Nvidia, Microsoft and OpenAI unveiled a $40bn joint investment in UK AI. Microsoft invested $30bn in its largest commitment to the country, OpenAI launched the Stargate venture, and Nvidia joined forces with CoreWeave, Nscale and Microsoft on $15bn of AI factories.
Separately, Nvidia announced a $5bn purchase of Intel stock as part of a collaboration to develop new generations of data centre and personal computer products.
