iPhone Air Launch Marks Apple’s Boldest Redesign in Years

Apple debuted the iPhone Air on September 9, unveiling its thinnest phone at 5.6mm. CEO Tim Cook praised it as the “biggest leap ever for iPhone,” and the first major lineup expansion since the iPhone X. The device starts at $999, between the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.

Powered by the A19 Pro processor and the N1 wireless chip, the iPhone Air and related models support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Pro editions introduce vapor chamber cooling, while all models ship with the Liquid Glass design and iOS 26.

Apple also announced the Watch Series 11 with 5G and hypertension detection, the Ultra 3 with satellite communication, and the AirPods Pro 3 at $249, offering heart-rate monitoring, broader workouts, enhanced noise cancellation, and live translation.

AI advances were minimal, with Apple Intelligence gaining live translation. Analysts believe the company’s AI strategy will fully materialize closer to 2027, coinciding with the iPhone’s 20th anniversary.
